8:00AM 9:30AM Are We Prepared to Care?   This event will be held at Cass County Community Center - 805 W. 10th Street Atlantic, Iowa. Do you have an aging family member? Know someone with a disability? Have a loved one who has been sick or injured? Or do you use support services to help maintain your own independence or health? Then this is for you. We have a care gap crisis. Join a community discussion on how Iowa will meet the care and support needs of older Iowans and people with disabilities or health conditions. This is a critical issue for all of us; add your voice. Open to all; refreshments provided. With questions, call 515-237-0338. Co-hosts: IowaWORKS, Iowa Western Community College, Iowa CareGivers, Iowa Department of Public Health, and Direct Care Workforce Initiative.

12:00PM 1:00PM Harrison County Extension Farmer Meeting   Harrison County Extension will hold a farmer meeting at noon on September 26 at the County maintenance shed one mile south of Modale on Austin Avenue (Highway K-45) and 280th Street. Palmer amaranth is a new row crop weed species first discovered in Iowa this summer here in Harrison County, and is a plant that merits heightened management by local farmers. Actual plants will be used to teach attendees the keys to identification, and management strategies will be discussed. The meeting should last about an hour and sandwiches and beverages will be provided, courtesy of United Western Coop.
